Description
- The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Nail Technology course is a vocational qualification that will prepare you for employment in the nail industry. You will gain the skills, understanding and knowledge required to perform professional manicures, nail overlay treatments including acrylics/UV gel applications and nail art. The flexible structure of this course will allow you complete the qualification at your own pace. With this qualification you will be fully equipped to work in any aspect of the nail industry – in a salon or nail bar, cruise ship or as a freelance nail technician.
Entry requirements:
- No previous experience needed
- You can also do our Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology course without a Level 2 Nail qualification.
- Good standard of English sufficient to complete the course competences and examinations.
- Students must be over 16 to enrol on this course.
How long is the course:
- 6-8 weeks (plus exams and assessments)
- 10.30am – 6.30pm (1 day per week)
- Maximum class size: 8 students
You will also be required to practice your skills and complete independent study outside of the taught sessions.
How will I be assessed:
- Online theory tests
- Observations and Oral questioning
- Practical Assessments, Assignments and Exams.
- Portfolio evidence to demonstrate your understanding/A portfolio evidence must also be submitted as part of the assessment criteria.

Do I need to bring a model?
You will only need to bring a model for the practical assessments.
At all other times students will be expected to practice on each other
What do I need to buy for this course
You will need to purchase the school uniform and a home study kit for you to practice with at home
Stationery including 2 x A4 folders will also be required to hold for your portfolio and course materials.
You must have access to a PC/laptop to complete written assignments, exams and online tasks.
What can I do with this Qualification
You can seek employment as Nail technician or you can progress onto our VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology course.
The VTCT Level 2 in Nail Technology is a highly recognised qualification that is accepted across the UK for working in salons, nail bars and spas or as a freelance nail technician.
